During Nantucket Stroll, Prima Materia was proud to host The Art of the Handwritten Note in partnership with Alpha-KIlo Work/Shop and The Nantucket Historical Association, welcoming guests into a workshop experience where design, positive psychology, and meaningful connection meet.
Rooted in the belief that beauty can be practiced and that presence is a skill we can return to, this gathering invited participants to slow down and reconnect with the art of handwritten communication as a ritual of care, creativity, and community. Guests explored thoughtful prompts and tactile tools, created personal notes with intention, and left with renewed inspiration for how small gestures can hold real weight.
As part of the weekend, Prima Materia curated a mercantile of artisan made goods designed to spark the artist within, alongside a special selection from the market at Broadlawn Farm, adding another layer of discovery and delight.
The space was further enriched by the presence of artist in residence Angela Raynor, whose work anchored the creative atmosphere, alongside local Nantucket artisans Mary Lacoursiere and Nell Van Vorst.
These are the kinds of experiences Prima Materia creates: intimate, elevated gatherings that blend craft and conversation, beauty and purpose, and leave guests feeling more connected to themselves and to one another.
