Wellness Workshop – Impressions That Last: The Joy of Handwritten & Handcrafted Notes

  • Discovery Center of the Whaling Museum 13 Broad Street Nantucket, MA, 02554 United States (map)

Presented in collaboration with Alpha Kilo Work/Shop,  Impressions That Last is an elegant, design-led workshop that blends craft, psychology, and the art of meaningful connection by inviting guests to rediscover the emotional power of handwritten communication.

The experience begins with an inspiring talk by Elizabeth Sheeler of Prima Materia, drawing on her degree in Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, who explores how the simple act of sending a handwritten note can nurture gratitude, well-being, and human connection for both the sender and the receiver.

Guests will then create their own holiday stationery using handmade letterpress cards by local artist Mary Lacoursiere, learning to embellish envelopes with beautiful linings, hand-stamping, and wax seals. It’s a meditative, tactile craft that pairs heritage printmaking with emotional intelligence and thoughtful giving.

Positioned as a seasonal design-and-wellbeing experience, Impressions That Last celebrates the enduring power of the handwritten word and offers a chance to craft something both beautiful and heartfelt – an inspiring way to begin your holiday cards and share notes that truly resonate.
